Peter Verhoyen is principal piccolo for the Royal Flanders Philharmonic Orchestra. He studied flute with Yves Gazelle, Paul Vanwolleghem, Ida Ribera and Eric Dequeker at the conservatories of Brussels, Meudon/Paris, Ghent and Antwerp, where he also received instruction in chamber music from Marcel Lequeux and Arie Van Lysebeth. He has also taken part in master classes given by Trevor Wye, James Galway, Geoffrey Gilbert,  Gaby Pas-Van Riet and William Bennett. Peter Verhoyen was a prize-winner in Dexia Classics and the Concours International UFAM in Paris; he was also a semi-finalist in the Orlando Young Artistsf Competition in 1995.

He is the co-founder of Arco Baleno, a chamber music ensemble consisting of string quartet and flute. The ensemble won first prize at the international CHAIN chamber music competition in Enschede and the debut prize for chamber music from Flanders Youth and Music. Arco Baleno has made nine CDs as well as various radio recordings. Peter Verhoyen has given concerts with Arco Baleno in Germany, France, Slovenia, the United States and the Netherlands. He currently teaches piccolo at the Royal Flemish Conservatory in Antwerp.  As a soloist he performed with the eSymfonisch Jeugdorkest van Vlaanderenf,eCollegium Instrumentale Brugensef, eI Fiamminghif and several other orchestras. 

latest CD recording ePiccolo Tunes` (Et`Cetera KTC 1296), with pianist Stefan De Schepper, contains 5 world recording premieres of new recital music for piccolo and piano.
