Nikos Nikopoulos, principal flute with the National Opera of Greece and a much in demand soloist in the Greek classical scene, plays an active role in the popularisation of the instrument in his country, Greece.
He appears regularly with all major orchestras of his country. Recently he appeared in Athens Festival performing Mozart Concerto with Vienna Chamber Orchestra.
He is also active in chamber music, appearing with various instrumental combinations and being member of the Choriambus Duo with harpist Georgia Xagara, with whom he performs in various international festivals and conventions.
He has been repeatedly invited by the famous violinist L. Kavakos to his chamber music Cycle which takes place in Athens Concert Hall, where he collaborated with internationally acclaimed musicians, such as C. Warren-Green, C. Hogwood, P. Demenga, D. Poppen, P. Nagy, etc.
He also appears regularly at the International Classical Music Festival of Cyclades, invited by Y. Margaziotis. He teaches at gPh. Nakash Conservatoire, Athens, as well as in the annual Flute Meeting of his country, of which he is among the organisers.
He is a graduate of the State Conservatoire of Thessaloniki. With a scholarship by the State Scholarships Foundation he also studied at the RNCM and at Leeds University. His most important teachers were R. Davis, P. Lloyd, I. Macovei, B. Cote, T. Takahashi.
